Zang Toi Spring 2010 Runway Show

Filed under: #NYFW, Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week, Zang Toi — ladolcevitainfo @ 5:11 am

The Zang Toi runway show took place in the designer’s showroom and was a rather cozy and intimate affair. The audience sat on opposites sides of the room with a descending second level stair case dropping to the middle of the floor which served as the main runway. I was expecting to see lots of Oriental influences from the designer, but I was pleasantly suprised to see the show take on a Spanish, Zoro-like motif. It was great! The models had their hair pulled back, with sharp darkened eyebrows and a pop of red on the lip. To compliment the theme, the collection consist of shiny black beading on skirts and jackets, sheer tops, long trenches, mini’s, bubble sleeves and roomy wide leg pants. The collection was very sophisticated and could be worn by women of any age. Zang Toi displayed lots of color from bright red, lime green, pink, to deep navy and black. My favorite piece shown was a lime green tube mini with cascading black beading along the hem. Also, I was so happy to see one of my favorite black models Ubah Hussan (the face of Ralph Lauren) walk in the show. Please click here to view a post I did on her a few months back. She is such a beautiful person and as serious as the show was meant to be, she couldn’t hide that gorgeous smile.

On another note, I learned just how small the blogging community really is. I was literally seated a few chairs down from Wendy Brandes, jewelry designer and fashion blogger who I also follow on twitter. After the show I hopped on twitter to search the show for other people who were there. I came across Wendy Brandes‘ funny blog post about the show and saw a picture of myself in the background. lol..

P.S. Please follow me on twitter for more updates at twitter.com/LaDolceVitaInfo :) All in all, it was a breath of fresh air, a return to sophistication, and a much needed break from the rocker/hipster takeover. Please see more pictures below and a video at the end of the post. #NYFW
