I was leaving my apartment in the midst of a snowstorm and thought, “Why are you going out there?” What would make an otherwise sane person head out in such conditions? As I made my way to the city and walked down the snow covered streets, I still wasn’t convinced that I had made the right decision to come out for an afternoon of fashion shows. As I stepped off the elevator, my mood was quickly changed as I heard the soothing sounds of a violinist. I quickly found my seat and allowed my new environment to take me to another place. A place where fashion was comfortable yet undeniably feminine. Welcome to the Vessel by Lois.
Model and designer Lois Samuels is the creative genius behind the Vessel, which draws inspiration from traditional menswear but adds chic details making this collection every woman’s dream. Wearable, simplistic, beautifully constructed, offers in Samuels’s opinion, “the foundation of what fashion should represent – a reserved, comfortable and graceful look for any woman.”
The collection had so many wonderful pieces making it a task to pinpoint which I liked the best. Therefore, I will highlight my three favorite looks. The first was a beautiful double-faced camel coat with a cream charmeuse tied shirt paired with Glenn plaid trousers. This is the perfect look for the fall. You could wear the whole ensemble or break it up to create three equally stunning looks.
If I could own one look from this collection it would be the grey argyle cashmere mock neck accompanied with wool shorts. This is a perfect example of how menswear can really work for women when done right. The soft sweater and tailored shorts are perfect for a date or a day of shopping.
My final favorite was a white pleated tail jacket and skirt. This is truly for women who appreciate understated sophistication. With clean lines and a flattering neckline, this suit can easily go from day to night. Lois isn’t selling us trends; she gives us basic styles that are timeless, beautiful and captures the essence of true fashion lovers.
